Car fire caused by compressed air leaves one injured and one dead

Greeley, CO: A woman was pronounced dead and a man was hospitalized after being rescued from a car fire. After huffing canisters of compressed air, the two tried to light a cigarette and the car set on fire.The incident remains under investigation, however the fire is believed to have been caused by the compressed air in the dusters found on the car floorboards.

dozen cans of Dust Off. He denied treatment from EMS, but admitted to
purchasing all of the products around midnight and inhaling them over the

crash is being held on trial for homicide by vehicle-use control substances. Duster cans were found on the passenger floorboard at the time of the crash. His attorney argues that the blood test, taken while the
young man was in a medically-induced coma, is a violation of his rights.
Further trial dates have been set.

Officers were called because he appeared under the influence of an inhalant and was trying to shoplift more canned air to continue. A store employee was the first to notice the man huffing in the clothing section of the store. He was arrested for possession of inhalant paraphernalia with the intent to inhale; his charge for theft was dropped.

A Wyoming psychiatrist was charged with driving under the influence for a second time in two months for huffing duster. During a preliminary hearing, charges of aggravated assault and misdemeanor DUI were waived. After inhaling, the man passed out while driving and crashed his vehicle into another car, injuring the other driver. The doctor specializes in treating addiction, but had his medical license suspended for struggling with addiction himself.

Over 50 aerosol cans were found in the car that were reportedly used over an extended period of time. The woman had been arrested previously for huffing duster.

His lawyer claims the accident was caused by the driver removing a hand brace, which distracted him. His lawyer also states that the prosecutor must prove that he was intoxicated. The cause of death is still pending, but they suspect it was an overdose. According to the man's family, he was on his way to recovery and beating his addiction. A family friend talked to him a month before his death and claimed that he was doing great. They are not sure what lead to his probable relapse.
