A 52 year old transient man was arrested after allegedly huffing a can of starter fluid on the railroad tracks. He resisted arrest but was booked on “suspicion of criminal trespassing, unlawful possession of inhalants and resisting arrest.”

Huffing Behind the Wheel Causes Car Chase in California

Last week, after a 10 minute car chase, a 24 year-old man was pulled over for huffing behind the wheel.
NBC Los Angeles helicopter footage showed him “filling up balloons from a gas tank and then inhaling them.” His car was stopped after the tire was punctured from a spike strip. Officers then fired a bean-bag round at him and used a baton to smash the window so they could pull him from the car. The man’s father noted he had a problem with nitrous oxide and court records show a previous charge for possession of nitrous oxide in 2009.

Texas Man Huffs Behind the Wheel and Crawls Out the Window

A 28 year-old male was arrested late last week after he was found to have been huffing computer dusting spray behind the wheel.
The officer noticed a car turn sharply into a parking lot in front of him when “the man then began a left hand turn that turned into a complete circle, all while the driver (with the vehicle still rolling) began crawling out of the driver’s side window. The car came to an abrupt stop, but only after the man had one leg out and was halfway out of the window.”
When he had crawled out the window the driver admitted he had been huffing dusters. He was arrested and charged with “Class B misdemeanor of possession and use of an inhalant and with driving with an invalid license. “

City Takes a Stand on Inhalants in Idaho

The report states, "The new amendment would prohibit the possession of inhalants with the intent to inhale, possession of paraphernalia for the inhalation of inhalants, and also prohibits being present at a place where inhalants are used or held for use.
The new code also refers to not only synthetic drugs but also common everyday inhalants such as spray paints, dust–off and gasoline.
The council approved the amendment unanimously with a 5 to nothing vote."

Texas Woman Found Huffing in Bathroom Stall

On Tuesday afternoon Abilene police responded to a call regarding a 28 year old woman who was huffing in a local restroom stall. Medical personnel responded as well and she was treated and cleared. The woman was then arrested and “charged with possession of a volatile chemical or inhalant.”

NC Woman Drives After Huffing and Crashes Car Twice

Burlington, NC
Police say a woman left the parking lot of a store in Burlington and instead of turning left or right, ran directly into a car parked along the street. She then left the scene in her car and proceeded to run a stop sign at a nearby intersection, and drove her car into a tree.
She did not sustain any injuries in either of the crashes, but was charged with driving while impaired and possession of inhalants as police found pills and inhalants in her car.
Other charges are pending, including hit-and-run for the initial accident.

Texas Man Admits to Huffing While Driving

Midland, Texas
A 23 year old man is in custody after admitting to officers that he had been huffing while driving. He is being held on a third-degree felony charge for evading officers as well as possession or use of an inhalant drug and driving while intoxicated.
A Midland Police Officer was dispatched to a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road at 1PM on Friday. Prior to arrival, dispatch warned the officer that witnesses reported that the driver of the car was inhaling from a can of dust remover.
A few moments later, dispatch contacted the officer again to warn that an officer from a local school had attempted to make contact with the driver who then fled in the car.
Officers eventually located the car are were able to stop the man who had been, "swerving all over the road." The driver said he didn't recall the attempted contact with the school's officer but did admit to huffing the dust remover.
If convicted of the felony, he could serve up to ten years in prison.

25 Year Old Found Huffing in NJ Wal-Mart Restroom

A 25 year old woman was charged with “possession of a controlled dangerous substance” after a Wal-Mart employee found her huffing from a can of dust remover in the store restroom.
When the woman hadn’t come out of the restroom after 30 minutes, her friend asked store personnel to check on her. Upon entering the employee “heard an aerosol can hit the floor” and there was no response when he knocked on the stall door. He then saw her pick up the can and “dispense the can near her face.” She soon emerged from the stall and showed the employee the receipt confirming she had purchased the product. She posted bail and was released.

Arizona Man Huffs Spray Paint, Throws Oranges at Planes

A 33 year-old man was caught huffing spray paint in an orange grove near Falcon Field Municipal Airport in Mesa.
Police saw the man drinking from a green jug but as they got closer they smelled spray paint and saw his upper lip. They confirmed he had been huffing spray paint from the jug. He also admitted he had been throwing oranges at the planes.
The report notes that the man was jittery and repeatedly said he was trying to get to New Mexico. When they tried to take him into custody, “he refused to put his hands on his head and walked away from the officers.” They finally wrestled him to the ground and took him to jail. He was charged with “possession of a vapor releasing substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.”

Last week deputies responded to a concern regarding a 39 year-old man “stumbling through a parking lot and inhaling something from a can and then riding a bicycle into the middle of Loop 494, where he was almost struck by a vehicle.”
The police report notes the man admitted the can of computer duster was his. He was “charged with possession/use of an inhalant and public intoxication.”

Boys Found with Spice- Arrested for Inhalant Abuse

Last week two boys were found in possession of “Spice, tobacco and drug paraphernalia.” Police found the two in a parked car behind a medical office building.
The boys were “issued misdemeanor citations for possession of inhalants by a minor and underage possession of tobacco.” The police department’s policy is that “smoking Spice falls under Idaho's prohibition of use of inhalants by juveniles.”
The boys were questioned and released to their parents.
The article notes that “Spice is a legally available blend of herbs sprayed with chemicals that can be used as a substitute for marijuana.” More info can be found here.
