Clearwater, FL - A 29-year-old mother was arrested for huffing and driving with her 1-year-old daughter in the backseat. The woman drove two blocks away from her home before hitting two mailboxes, running a stop sign, and crashing into a palm tree. When police arrived on the scene she was unconscious and they found an air duster can cold on the floorboard. The woman admitted to huffing from the air duster but claimed it was hours ago but since the can was cold police had reason to believe she had been huffing while driving. The child was uninjured but the mother will be charged with inhalation of chemicals and child abuse.

Florida Man Overdoses From Huffing

Vero Beach, FL - A 36-year-old man was found dead in his car after police responded to reports of a man unconscious in his car. Employees of the near by store checked on him throughout the day and decided to call 911 but he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is still needed to determine the exact cause of death police believe it was an overdose due to huffing. Police found aerosol cans in his car and in 2015 the man was arrested for inhaling a chemical substance.

Florida Man Arrested for Huffing and Driving

Gainsville, FL - A 33-year-old man was arrested for huffing and driving after officials found him slumped over the wheel of his car while holding a can of air duster. Officials knocked on the window of his car but the man proceeded to wake up, inhale from the can, and drive off before he hit two vehicles, a mailbox and finally came to a stop. They were then able to arrest him for property damage, driving without a license, inhaling harmful chemicals and attempting to flee police.

Walnut Hill, FL: Two men were arrested after they were found in possession of 1,500 rounds of ammunition, and one man high from huffing canisters of compressed air. They were held in the Escambia County Jail with bails set at $15,000 and $16,000.

Police found three cans of duster cleaner in the vehicle afters she ran over a bush and crashed into another car. The 33-year-old man was huffing at a bus stop and attempted to hide the aerosol can when the officer drew close. He appeared intoxicated. The man was arrested for inhaling harmful chemicals as well as grand theft from an active warrant. This is his second arrest for huffing.

This is the fourth time he's been caught this year, and at least the 18th time since 2005. After he was released from jail police later found him hunched over, huffing. The man even poured paint thinner on his shirt and tried huffing it in front of the police, attempting to look normal. The man has been convicted in every one of his cases but has never served more than 20 days in jail.

Fred Leonhardt, a 65-year old lobbyist, attorney and political fundraiser, passed away in his home from a reported heart attack in October. Autopsy, however, discovered that a heart condition contributed to his death, which led to a final event of cardiac arrhythmia. Ethyl chloride, a compound found in cleaning solvents, was a factor that contributed to the fatal arrhythmia. Police recovered five aerosol bottles of a cleaning solvent and one bottle of nail polish remover, another potentially harmful intoxicant, at the scene. The autopsy also discovered substances in his blood consistent with the chemicals found in the aerosol cleaning solvent, leading to his death being ruled as an accident related to inhalant abuse.

The doctor was arrested after swerving off the road and damaging a light pole, and was seen throwing a can of electronics air duster into the woods. Police report that he had three incidents of driving involving duster cans in one week. The doctor was only arrested one of the three times because huffing effects are difficult to identify and typically only last 10-20 minutes, although they can kill immediately.

Florida Doctor Crashes Car after Huffing, Knocks out Power at Local Supermarket
On the morning of Tuesday October 27th, a 61 year
old physician in Saint Augustine crashed his car into a power pole. This left a
major grocery store in the area without electricity. Police responding to the
scene reported that the man in question was huffing computer cleaner.
According to the police report, he was fairly compliant with
the arresting officers’ requests. However, he was physically unable to stand in
order to carry out the field sobriety tests. However, the doctor was eventually
taken to the county jail. From there he was charged with DUI with Property
Damage and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage.

"Springfield Police were dispatched March 14 at about 1:30 p.m. to a cemetery at 1535 E. 15th St., where 34-year-old William Howard IV was huffing computer cleaner aerosol, also known as “duster.” When officers made contact with him, Howard reportedly became violent, attempting to kick officers several times. Even after police used a stun gun, Howard struggled and attempted to overpower the officers, police reported."

A 34 year old man in Springfield, Florida was arrested on
March 14, 2015 for inhaling the contents of a can of computer cleaner in a cemetery.
As the police took him into custody, he repeatedly tried to kick and lash out
at the officers. These acts of physical aggression continued even after the
police used a stun gun on him.
After this incident, he was charged with inhaling a harmful
chemical substance and resisting arrest with violence. After pleading no
contest, he was sentenced to just over one year in prison on Friday October 9th,
2015.

Florida Man Found Passed Out Behind Wheel after Huffing Compressed Air
On Tuesday September 8th 2015, a 30 year old man
in Boca Raton was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding and inhaling a
harmful chemical. When police found him at approximately 6:30 PM, his car was
sitting on a roadway and he was passed out on the steering wheel. However, when
the police tapped on the window, the driver briefly regained consciousness and
drove off. However, he was soon found at a nearby restaurant where he inhaled
more computer cleaner before being arrested.
After arresting the suspect, he was taken to Boca Raton
Hospital. After he was given a chance to recover, he was briefly detained at
Palm Beach County Jail. When questioned, the suspect claimed to not have any
recollection of the previous night’s events.

A Florida man was arrested on Sunday August 30th
after inhaling compressed air and attempting to flee the scene. Officers in the
town of Stuart found the man passed out in behind the wheel in a drive-thru.
However, he drove off almost as soon as he woke up.
Unfortunately, while driving off, an officer was caught on
the car and dragged along. The suspect in question was taken into custody soon
afterwards. The officer who was dragged behind the car was taken to the
hospital and is now recovering.
