Woman Arrested for Causing an Accident While Using Inhalants

A Wisconsin woman was arrested after causing an accident, using inhalants, and resisting officers. The woman crashed the vehicle with a 2-year-old in the vehicle in a parking lot, driving it to the edge into a construction zone. The 38-year-old is being held on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, abusing a hazardous substance and second-degree recklessly endearing safety. The child was not injured in the accident

Florida Man Sentenced after Huffing Computer Cleaner and Attacking Police

A 34 year old man in Springfield, Florida was arrested on March 14, 2015 for inhaling the contents of a can of computer cleaner in a cemetery. As the police took him into custody, he repeatedly tried to kick and lash out at the officers. These acts of physical aggression continued even after the police used a stun gun on him.

After this incident, he was charged with inhaling a harmful chemical substance and resisting arrest with violence. After pleading no contest, he was sentenced to just over one year in prison on Friday October 9^th, 2015.

Tennessee Man Arrested for Huffing and Driving

A 35 year old man from Rockvale, Tennessee man was taken into custody on Tuesday night at approximately 6:40 PM after allegedly huffing and driving. While responding to a call regarding someone having a seizure behind the wheel, a local officer claims to have witnessed the man spraying canned duster into his nose while pulled over to the side of the road.

Upon confronting him, the officer claims that the man refused to cooperate. After gaining access to the car by breaking through a window, the Tennessee man reportedly put up a brief struggle against the arresting officer. From there he was taken first to a hospital and then to jail. Currently, he is being charged with resisting arrest and driving under the influence. The bond is set at $4,000.

Florida Man Found Passed Out Behind Wheel after Huffing Compressed Air

On Tuesday September 8^th 2015, a 30 year old man in Boca Raton was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding and inhaling a harmful chemical. When police found him at approximately 6:30 PM, his car was sitting on a roadway and he was passed out on the steering wheel. However, when the police tapped on the window, the driver briefly regained consciousness and drove off. However, he was soon found at a nearby restaurant where he inhaled more computer cleaner before being arrested.

After arresting the suspect, he was taken to Boca Raton Hospital. After he was given a chance to recover, he was briefly detained at Palm Beach County Jail. When questioned, the suspect claimed to not have any recollection of the previous night’s events.

Maine Driver Attempts to Evade Police after Inhaling Keyboard Cleaner

A man from Topsham Maine was arrested on the night of Monday August 31st after inhaling keyboard cleaner and attempting to evade police. According to local authorities, after a relatively low-speed car chase due to a prior trespassing issue, the man crashed his SUV into a guardrail. When police approached, he allegedly began huffing in front of them. From there, the officers removed the keys from the ignition and took him into custody.

He was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, driving to endanger, failure to stop for a police officer and civil possession of inhalants.  After his arrest, the man was transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where he was held on $1,000 cash bail.

Florida Officer Dragged behind Car of Fleeing Suspect: Inhalant Abuse Suspected

A Florida man was arrested on Sunday August 30^th after inhaling compressed air and attempting to flee the scene. Officers in the town of Stuart found the man passed out in behind the wheel in a drive-thru. However, he drove off almost as soon as he woke up.

Unfortunately, while driving off, an officer was caught on the car and dragged along. The suspect in question was taken into custody soon afterwards. The officer who was dragged behind the car was taken to the hospital and is now recovering.  

Wisconsin Man Found Unconscious in Store After Huffing Dusters

 A 25 year old man has been arrested after he was found unconscious in the back of an Office Depot.  The front window of the store had been smashed in, a can of computer duster was found alongside the unconscious man, and a backpack containing stolen goods and more cans of computer duster was found next to him as well. He has been charged with “Burglary - 2 counts, Resisting/Obstructing, Criminal Damage to Property, Bail Jumping and Abuse of a Hazardous Substance.”

Michigan Man Hospitalized for Huffing and Charged with Resisting Police

This past month, a 25-year-old man from Clinton, MI was charged with huffing from a compressed air can twice in a two day period, as well as resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The man was first found on May 19th outside a restaurant where he was transported to the hospital immediately. After being discharged on May 20th, he was again found huffing and the police were notified by the man's taxi driver who reported he was having seizures. 

When police first arrived they were unable to control the man but were eventually able to place him in handcuffs and transport him back to the University of Michigan Hospital. 

Pennsylvania Man Resists Huffing Arrest and Attacks Officer

A 31 year old man was arrested this weekend after an inhalant abuse related incident in Wal-Mart.

Store employees “noticed a strong chemical odor that burned their throats and eyes” and found a man inhaling dust remover in a stall in the men’s restroom. He had taken two cans of the computer keyboard cleaner from the store to the restroom.

Officers were called and an officer kicked down the stall door when the man refused to unlock it. The man aggressively resisted arrest, fought with the officer and was tased before his arrest. The officer’s badge was “bent and torn from his uniform and his glasses were damaged." The man sustained a small abrasion to his face. He was charged with “aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, retail theft, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and illegal use of solvents and noxious substances.”

Oregon Woman Crashes Into House, Punches Cop

A 27 year-old woman was arrested after crashing her car into a house and then punching a police officer in the face, breaking his nose.

The officer saw the crash and approached the vehicle whereupon the driver resisted arrest and assaulted the officer. Neighbors gave police the cans they say she threw from her car. She was charged with “driving under the influence of inhalants, failure to perform the duties of a driver, and reckless driving."

Massachusetts Repeat Offender

Last week, a Massachusetts man was arrested for the second time this month for “creating a disturbance” while huffing. The man had previously been arrested for huffing and harassing customers at a local store.

Most recently, the man was shouting threats at his neighbors in a condominium complex. When police arrived on the scene, they reported that they “could hear hissing sounds that they associated with huffing.” The man was semi-conscious and had a can of industrial strength duster.

The man resisted arrest, so police pepper-sprayed him. He was charged with inhaling toxic vapors and resisting arrest.

String of Huffing Arrests in Ohio

The St. Clair Township Police have reported three separate huffing incidents in the past three weeks.

The first incident occurred when police received reports of a man behaving suspiciously after he drank something in a fast food restaurant bathroom. Police later learned that the man had been huffing from cans of brake cleaner. The man was charged with abusing harmful intoxicants.

In the second incident, police were told that a man was passed out in a parking lot. Police found the man with three cans of dust cleaner around him. The man resisted arrest, and police used a stun gun several times to subdue him.

For the third case, police found a man sitting in his car inhaling industrial strength dust spray. He was initially disoriented and unable to speak to the officers. He was charged with abusing harmful intoxicants.

The St. Clair Township police chief blames the poor economy for the recent huffing cases, saying that inhalants are cheaper than traditional drugs.

Huffer Continues to Run from Police

A man in Missouri has been charged with resisting arrest after he fled from police for the third time. The man has a criminal record which includes domestic assault, driving while intoxicated, and endangering the welfare of a child.

On March 15th, police found the man on the ground after he had been huffing. When they tried to arrest him, he ran from police. Two days later, the man attacked law enforcement officers but ran away even after being "Tased."

On April 1st, the man was trying to steal compressed air and fled to the house of "the victim of the previous domestic assault charge." According to police, the man "grabbed several knives" and "said deputies would have to kill him." The man then jumped out of a second story window.

Man Suspected of Huffing Bites Police Officer

Police were called to a hotel in Moss Point after hotel officials requested backup while dismissing a man who lived and worked at the hotel. According to reports, the man became extremely agitated while he was escorted from the property. He then “bit one of the officers and sent him to the hospital.”

The Police Chief suspects that the man had been huffing some sort of chemical prior to the incident, because officers noticed “a very heavy odor of lacquer” in the man’s room.

The man was arrested for assault of a police officer and resisting arrest. The police officer he bit was treated and released from the hospital.
