Police Arrest Arkansas Woman Accused of Huffing Behind the Wheel

Police arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, despite her denying use of any intoxicants.
"The arresting officer said she acted 'surprised and insulted' when he asked if she had been inhaling any sort of paint or computer duster.

She denied having any type of inhalant in the vehicle and agreed to a search of the car, the report stated.
When she got out of the car and officer at the scene said he 'noticed her shoving something up her shirt.'
Not sure if the 'large bulge' in her stomach area was a weapon or not, the officer reportedly ordered her to place her hands on top of the car then grabbed the object hidden beneath her waistband.
“It was a can of air duster,” the officer stated in the report.
"[Two officers] noted the can was empty and cold, indicating it had been recently used."

Deputies responded to Kwik Stop No. 8, Cañon, on an intoxicated driver. RP stated there was a man in a red truck drinking out of a bottle and then would pass out. Deputies made contact with the 31-year-old man driving the red Chevy. Driver was place in custody for DUID and it was later determined he was huffing a can of whip it.

"Police in Lancaster say a man was found passed out in a Transit Road store bathroom after “huffing” inhalants. The 38-year-old was seen sitting on a toilet with a can of compressed gas pressed against his mouth, according to police. Authorities say he became conscious again minutes later.
During a search, officers say they located two cans of computer duster in the men’s bathroom and four more bottles in the women’s bathroom. The ones found in the women’s bathroom had been used, according to police.
The man was taken to ECMC for treatment. Police expect to charge him with a public health law violation. He could also face charges for petit larceny and burglary."

5 Arizona Elementary Students Sick after Huffing

Five elementary school students were caught huffing aerosol cleaner after one fell sick. Police responded to the incident at Horizon School at noon. One student who had fainted was expected to be ok, but was taken to the hospital along with another student for precautionary reasons. The students are expected to recover, although there was no report on disciplinary action by the school.

Wisconsin Man Caught Stealing and Huffing Dusters

An Eau Claire resident was caught stealing cans of computer cleaner from a local Menards store, and huffing them inside the business. Police were called to the store and found him struggling to maintain his balance and keep his eyes open, signs that he had been abusing the product in the store. He was reported to have stolen as many as 17 two-packs of the dusters, and police found several stolen cans in his vehicle. A $500 cash bail was set for the man, who returns to court March 14. As conditions of bail, he cannot have contact with Menards stores or possess aerosol cans.

Genevieve man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly being found in a Best Buy bathroom in Cape Girardeau, huffing air duster and refusing to leave. 57-year old Michael Dwayne Ruple was charged with misdemeanor possession of a solvent with intent to induce symptoms and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia...Ruple told Becker he was using air duster, he has been huffing for about two months, and he has a history of drug use."

Florida Lobbyist Dies from Inhalant Abuse

Fred Leonhardt, a 65-year old lobbyist, attorney and political fundraiser, passed away in his home from a reported heart attack in October. Autopsy, however, discovered that a heart condition contributed to his death, which led to a final event of cardiac arrhythmia. Ethyl chloride, a compound found in cleaning solvents, was a factor that contributed to the fatal arrhythmia. Police recovered five aerosol bottles of a cleaning solvent and one bottle of nail polish remover, another potentially harmful intoxicant, at the scene. The autopsy also discovered substances in his blood consistent with the chemicals found in the aerosol cleaning solvent, leading to his death being ruled as an accident related to inhalant abuse.

Alabama Man Wrecks Vehicle After Suspected Huffing, Faces DUI Charge

A 23-year old man was arrested on suspicion of huffing after crashing into a telephone pole, continuing to drive, crossing opposite lanes of traffic, and ultimately crashing into woods off the road. Witnesses reported seeing the driver throw a small object from the car, which police determined to be a can of computer duster.
“About 5 feet from the vehicle, based on my training, I recognized a canister of compressed air that blows air on your keyboard,” the officer reported. “It’s not necessarily the air that gets you high, it's the propellant that’s used to propel it out of the canister.”The driver was discovered walking in the woods and given a field sobriety test, which led to his arrest for driving under the influence of inhalants.

One Dead, Suspect in Custody in Oklahoma Inhalant-Related Car Crash

Prior to the car crash that took the life of one driver and injured the suspect, an Oklahoma family called in a tip for police to be on the lookout for a driver, high on keyboard cleaner. Within a few hours, the 25-year-old man drove head-on into traffic on I-44, killing another driver on impact.

On the evening of June 3, a witness noticed a woman huffing from a computer duster in a store parking lot. When a police officer approached the car, she "inhaled fumes and held them in before slumping over and becoming unconscious and unresponsive."
