South Carolina Woman Huffs Duster In Front of Officer

Via The State in South Carolina:

A 52 year old woman was arrested this past weekend after police found her huffing from a can of computer duster outside of a CVS Pharmacy.

Police responding to the call found the woman on the ground and as they approached, she stood up and was very unsteady on her feet. She inhaled from the can as officers were talking with her and again as they were walking to the police car, which led the officer to put her in handcuffs. She was taken to the hospital for examination and then transported to the detention facility.

Georgia Man Huffs Inhalants From Bag and Rolls on Ground Screaming

A 33 year old man was arrested last Tuesday after he was “found high from huffing fumes and scaring people by his strange behavior near a bus stop.” A Georgia Bureau of Investigations agent was driving in the area when he saw the man spray an aerosol can into a bag then huff from the bag. He then began to scream and roll around on the ground. The agent notified police who then arrested the man on charges of intentionally inhaling fumes, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

New York Man Charged with Two Counts of Inhalation of Toxic Fumes

This past Tuesday, a Lowville man was found unresponsive in his home after huffing electronic dusters. When police and medical personnel arrived, the man admitted to abusing inhalants and was charged with inhalation of toxic fumes, a public health code violation, and was issued an appearance ticket.

An hour after officials left, there was a second call to the same residence where the man was again found unresponsive in his vehicle. He was charged with a second count of inhalation of toxic fumes. He was taken to a nearby military compound.

Montana Man Arrested for Huffing and Driving

A 27-year-old Missoula man was recently ordered a $10,000 bail on Thursday after being arrested for alleged huffing and driving erratically on Highway 10 West.

Witnesses told police that the driver almost hit a bicyclist and a pedestrian before it rolled over. The driver was found in a confused and dazed state, and denied any use of a spray can. However, when searching the vehicle police found a hidden can of duster in the back seat.

The driver was charged with one felony count of criminal endangerment.

Indiana Man Arrested for Huffing Outside Local Walmart

Via News and Tribune in Indiana:

This past Sunday, a 39-year-old man was arrested for inhaling toxic vapor and public intoxication, after police found him lying on the ground outside of a Walmart in Clarksville, Indiana. The man was in possession of two cans of dust cleaner, one of which was empty. Police report the man smelled of alcohol, and was confused at the time of questioning.

The man failed two failed sobriety tests, and reported a .17 blood-alcohol contest during a portable breath test.

Illinois Man Under Arrest for Huffing

A 40-year-old man from Evergreen Park, IL was recently charged with unlawful use of an intoxicating compound after he was caught huffing from an aerosol can on July 5th.

Police found the man slouched up against a tree with a straw in his mouth, where he admitted to using the cans to "get high."

Washington Man Arrested for Third-Degree Theft and Unlawful Inhalation

On Wednesday, July 10th police found a man huffing an aerosol bottle just outside of Monroe Avenue in Washington. The suspect was arrested for third-degree theft and unlawful inhalation.

Pennsylvania Man Charged with Illegal Use of Solvents

A young man from Hepburn Township, PA was recently charged with illegal use of solvents after using them to get high in late May.

The man was initially jailed in Lycoming County Prison, but was released on $1,500 bail.

Two Florida Men Charged with Huffing and Child Neglect

Last Friday, two Florida men were found huffing cans of aerosol with two young kids in the car. One of the inhalant users told police that he was watching the children, and that the young boy was his son.

After further investigation, it appeared that the two users had past arrests and minor offenses. One of the men was held on $1,500 bond for his two charges, while the other remained in jail with a bond set at $500 and $1,000 on child neglect. The second man was also being held without bond for violation of probation charges for burglary of conveyance and petit theft.

Missouri Man Under the Influence Stabs Man in Homeless Camp

A recent huffing incident in a homeless camp in Springfield led one thirty-eight year old man to stab another man in the camp on Tuesday night. According to police, the man had consumed seven, 24-ounce beers and huffed gasoline fumes before attacking. The man also seemed to experience hallucinations in which he was unable to accurately describe the incident.

Charged in the past with four felony convictions, the man is being held in Greene County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. This carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Wisconsin Woman Crashes Car While Huffing

This past week a Wisconsin woman was charged with intentionally using a hazardous substance after huffing and crashing her car into City Hall. The accused was sentenced to two years probation, and an order not to inhale or have aerosol cans in her possession.

Illinois Man Charged with Reckless Homicide After Killing Three

Earlier this morning, Judge Ted Hamer of Henry County Court District in Illinois charged a twenty-year-old man with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence. The driver is connected with three previous deaths which took place in November of 2012 during a car accident.

While it was first unclear whether the driver was having seizures or huffing, it soon became clear to authorities that he was abusing inhalants. A toxicologist confirmed the man was huffing using various pieces of evidence such as the weight loss in the can discovered at the scene, and the driver's history of "blacking out."

The driver could face anywhere from six to twenty-eight years in prison, with a possible but very slim chance of probation.

Michigan Man Hospitalized for Huffing and Charged with Resisting Police

This past month, a 25-year-old man from Clinton, MI was charged with huffing from a compressed air can twice in a two day period, as well as resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The man was first found on May 19th outside a restaurant where he was transported to the hospital immediately. After being discharged on May 20th, he was again found huffing and the police were notified by the man's taxi driver who reported he was having seizures. 

When police first arrived they were unable to control the man but were eventually able to place him in handcuffs and transport him back to the University of Michigan Hospital.

Alabama Man Attacks Police Officer With Scissors After Huffing

A man faces two attempted murder charges after an alleged huffing related incident.

Earlier this month the man’s parents went to his house and called the police after they could see him lying unresponsive on a bed. When a police officer and fireman approached the man’s body, he jumped up and attempted to attack them with scissors.
The article notes neighbors reported the man as being a good person and that “huffing may have changed his personality.” The police detective makes a good point about inhalant abuse- "It was not only a danger to yourself but as we can see in this case you can be a danger to other people,"

Connecticut Man Caught Huffing Behind Hotel

A 37 year-old Danbury, CT man was found by police in a wooded area behind a local hotel. Police said the man was slumped over with his face in mud.  When woken by the police, the man grabbed a nearby aerosol can and attempted to huff again.  A police office knocked the can away, and in the process was struck in the leg by the man. The man is being charged with, "criminal trespass, assaulting a public safety officer and interfering with an officer’s duties."

Two People in Kentucky Arrested for Inhaling Computer Dusters

Two Kentucky people, a 33-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, were jailed on Tuesday after police saw them huffing computer dusters in their home. The police were called to the house and watched its occupants inhale dusters from across the street. Police found an addition 12 empty cans inside of the home. Both people have been charged with Criminal Possession of a Noxious Substance.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call Sunday afternoon when a 35-year-old woman was seen inhaling a computer duster spray in a Palm Harbor Walmart Bathroom.  She was found with two cans of duster spray and admitted to buying the duster at Walmart and going to the bathroom to inhale it.
She has been charged with inhalation of a harmful chemical.

Missouri Man Dies, Inhales Dusters




Emergency responders found a 33-year-old man dead in a motel Monday morning and authorities have said huffing is likely the cause. He and a companion had bought more than 50 cans of aerosol dusting spray in the three days preceding his death, all of which were found empty in the room.

A 47-year-old man was arrested around 4 a.m. on Monday when police noticed him walking down the street with gold-colored spray paint around his nose and mouth, and on his hands.
The man has been arrested twice for Abusing Harmful Intoxicants.  He reportedly told the police he had stopped huffing but a little voice told him to do it.

South Carolina Woman Accused of Abusing Inhalants

Via The Herald Online in South Carolina:

A 50-year-old woman was arrested and charged with "inhaling aromatic hydrocarbons" on Monday. Police responded to calls saying that a woman in a silver SUV was parked in the back of the cemetery and huffing from a green can. When police arrived they found the woman asleep her car with a computer duster can in her lap. Police confiscated that can and then found another in the front passenger’s seat. The woman was released from jail on Monday on a $500 bond.
