A man in Morgantown, West Virginia was arrested for child neglect on Sunday after allegedly huffing a can of duster in front of his daughter. Police found the man passed out and incoherent on the rail train with a can of duster in his hand. His young daughter was in a stroller just a few feet away. The man told police that he had not huffed the whole can that day.

Oklahoma Woman Receives Child Neglect Charges After Huffing

An Oklahoma woman was recently charged with child abuse, child neglect, and endangerment after passing out while huffing and leaving her infant child laying next to her on the floor.
The woman was found unresponsive on the floor of her home in Oklahoma City. When she finally awoke, the woman took another hit of a computer duster and passed out again. Police also found a stash of "Pirate's Booty" potpourri in her pocket, along with a pipe that is used to smoke it.

Two Florida Men Charged with Huffing and Child Neglect

Last Friday, two Florida men were found huffing cans of aerosol with two young kids in the car. One of the inhalant users told police that he was watching the children, and that the young boy was his son.
After further investigation, it appeared that the two users had past arrests and minor offenses. One of the men was held on $1,500 bond for his two charges, while the other remained in jail with a bond set at $500 and $1,000 on child neglect. The second man was also being held without bond for violation of probation charges for burglary of conveyance and petit theft.

Huffing and Child Neglect

Last week, a man in Jasper Indiana, was arrested for inhaling toxic vapors, neglect of a dependent and criminal recklessness.
Last week, a man in Jasper Indiana, was arrested for inhaling toxic vapors, neglect of a dependent and criminal recklessness.
The man was found sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot with the windows rolled up. According to witnesses, he had been sitting in the vehicle with a small child “for a lengthy amount of time.” A woman knocked on the driver’s window repeatedly to get the man’s attention. When he rolled down the window, the woman saw several cans of duster in the vehicle. The woman told the man that help was on the way, but he drove to another parking lot.
Police were notified, and they found the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The man and the child were taken to the hospital for observation since the man had been huffing and the child had been in the car for about three hours with the windows rolled up. After he was released from the hospital, the man was taken to the Jasper Police Department.

Driver Didn't Know Huffing Could Make Him Pass Out

A 40-year-old Florida man was jailed for felony child neglect after he crashed his car into a curb.
Police found a young child in a safety seat in the back of the car and the man passed out in the driver’s seat. There was a can of computer duster on the passenger seat. The man admitted to huffing while driving, but he did not know he could lose consciousness since he had never huffed before.
The man remains in jail, and the child was not injured.

Woman Neglects Children While Huffing
A 30-year-old woman was found slumped inside her car while her children were left unattended.
The woman had been huffing a can of aerosol spray in the parking lot of a nearby park. A screaming 8-month-old was found sweating with a full diaper in their carseat. Her 3 and 4-year-old were playing at the park unsupervised.
A puddle of the woman's vomit was found outside of her door as well as urine inside the car.
Police weren't sure how long the woman was unresponsive but did find an aerosol can that was cool to the touch.
After refusing an ambulance the woman was taken to jail and the children were taken to their grandparents.

Palm Harbor Woman Failed to Supervise Paint Sniffing Child

According to the St. Petersburg Times a 35 year old Palm Harbor woman, Deborah Lee Pavlat, had fallen asleep after ingesting several a narcotic painkillers and failed to arrange childcare for the 7 year-old boy in her care.
While she was asleep, the young boy wandered outside and was caught by neighbors huffing spray paint. The boy reported that this was the first time he had tried it, and he liked the smell.
Pavlat was charged with child neglect and is currently being held in the Pinellas County Jail.

Paint Huffing Couple Endanger Children

Police pulled the woman over for a broken taillight and she noted that she was out looking for her children who had gone looking for their dog. In the home, police found “trash throughout the house, missing appliances and only a loaf of bread to eat. Electricity and water at the home were also turned off.”

Mother Jailed For 'Huffing' in front of Son

The mother who was caught huffing computer duster while driving as her 6-year-old son looked on from the back seat, will spend 30 days in jail on a DUI charge. On August 18th a passing motorist noticed the suspect driving erratically and even witnessed her take several ‘hits’ from an aerosol can. The motorist began following the vehicle and discovered “a little boy sitting in the back seat with his nose pressed against the back seat window looking scared to death.”
The suspect eventually pulled over only to continue huffing in front of her son and the tailing driver. According to incident reports, the driver was able to secure the 6-year-old from his mother’s car just before she fled the scene.
Police charged the mother with DUI and 'the implied consent and neglect of a child.' However after reaching a plea bargain with the prosecution, the neglect charges were dropped. This is not the suspect’s first criminal offense. In fact, she was on probation for a felony drug charge at the time of the incident.
