Woman Accused of Huffing While Driving with a Child

In North Carolina a woman was arrested for driving and huffing duster with a child in the vehicle. Police were called by witnesses who said people appeared to be unconscious while a child was crying. The woman has been charged with possession of substances, inhaling fumes for purpose of causing intoxication and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse.

South Carolina Father Arrested for Inhalant Abuse

On Tuesday November 3, 2015, a couple in Spartanburg County South Carolina was arrested. The police were first concerned about suspected inhalant abuse. This was because one of the two had noticeable signs of this activity including a dazed appearance and paint on his face. However, when they enetered their home, they also became deeply concerned about parental neglect.

According to reports, the house was littered with insects, rats, mold, and dog feces. Furthermore, when the police asked the couple’s child to bring a pair of shoes, she was unable to do so. The original suspect was arrested for being under the influence of the Aromatic Hydrocarbons and the mother was arrested for child neglect. The daughter was taken into emergency protected custody.

Montana Mother who Provided Alcohol and Inhalants to her Children Sentenced

A woman from Hamilton, Montana was sentenced to ten years in Montana Department of Corrections with five years suspended. She was first arrested in May 2014 after she provided alcohol to a 13-year-old boy, who became extremely sick in the motel room where she was staying with her 14-year-old daughter. However, the mother did not seek medical treatment because she “was worried about getting into trouble.” The second incident occurred when she was released on bail in November. During this time, she abused inhalants with her children. After consuming these products, one of her children fell and hit its head and subsequently had two seizures.

These events were reportedly part of a larger parenting trend. Another allegation included regularly using drugs in front of her children. Additionally, is also accused of regularly bringing various men home for the purpose of having sexual intercourse in front of her children. Her defense attorney cited the physical and sexual abuse that she suffered as a child as reasons for her behavior. However, the judge rejected her please for clemency during sentencing.

Texas Woman in Prison After Getting High in Front of Her Child

A woman in Odessa, Texas was spotted in a car by police in a parking lot. The police smelled chemicals coming from the car and confronted the woman, who responded in a slow manner. Upon investigation, police discovered she had been huffing toluene, a clear, liquid chemical, inside the car. The woman's two-year-old son was in the backseat. The woman was arrested and taken to prison.

Oklahoma Woman Receives Child Neglect Charges After Huffing

An Oklahoma woman was recently charged with child abuse, child neglect, and endangerment after passing out while huffing and leaving her infant child laying next to her on the floor.

The woman was found unresponsive on the floor of her home in Oklahoma City. When she finally awoke, the woman took another hit of a computer duster and passed out again. Police also found a stash of "Pirate's Booty" potpourri in her pocket, along with a pipe that is used to smoke it.

Update: Woman Sentenced for Helping Children Abuse Inhalants

The 18-year-old Nebraska woman from a previous post who helped two children abuse inhalants has been sentenced to one year in jail. She had been found guilty “on two counts of child abuse and two counts of aiding and abetting inhaling an intoxicant.” The woman was supervising children during an after-school program in February when she “inhaled propellants from empty whipped cream cans and a can of electronics cleaner, and helped two children inhale from the cans.”

Nebraska Woman Found Guilty of Helping Children Abuse Inhalants

An 18 year old Nebraska woman has been found guilty of child abuse after an inhalant abuse related incident. The woman was supervising children in an after-school program at an elementary school when she “inhaled from empty whipped cream cans and from a can used to clean electronics.” She then helped two of the children inhale from the cans.

18 Year Old Woman Charged With Child Abuse After Supplying Inhalants

An 18 year old woman has been charged with two counts of child abuse, as well as two counts of aiding and abetting inhaling an intoxicant, after supplying inhalants to kids during an after school program.

Earlier this month the district's superintendent confirmed that employees had been fired in connection with the incident. According to reports the employees had been inhaling dust remover and the gas from a can of whipped cream and reportedly had helped two of the children inhale the products.

She is set to appear in court on April 8.

19 Year Old Huffing Gasoline Assaults Ex-girlfriend

A 19 year old man has been charged with “attempted first-degree murder, assault, child abuse and arson” after assaulting an ex-girlfriend and setting fire to her apartment earlier this week.

The police report notes the man “tried to set a 5-year-old girl on fire using a hand sanitizer” and then tried to light a woman’s shorts on fire. He then “turned the stove on and tried to blow the place up, and then lighted the trash on fire.” He then tried to stab his ex girlfriend in the stomach and neck and set her 2-month-old baby on fire.

Police found the man nearby, passed out in his car. The police report notes there was “evidence that he had been huffing gasoline.”
