South Carolina Father Arrested for Inhalant Abuse

On Tuesday November 3, 2015, a couple in Spartanburg County South Carolina was arrested. The police were first concerned about suspected inhalant abuse. This was because one of the two had noticeable signs of this activity including a dazed appearance and paint on his face. However, when they enetered their home, they also became deeply concerned about parental neglect.

According to reports, the house was littered with insects, rats, mold, and dog feces. Furthermore, when the police asked the couple’s child to bring a pair of shoes, she was unable to do so. The original suspect was arrested for being under the influence of the Aromatic Hydrocarbons and the mother was arrested for child neglect. The daughter was taken into emergency protected custody.

Oklahoma Man Crashes While Huffing

An Oklahoma man was arrested after crashing his car and nearly running over a firefighter.

The man hopped a curb where he then crashed into a fence.  "Witnesses said the driver looked like he was having a seizure and was slumped over the wheel."  Firefighters found the man huffing from a compressed air can.  After seeing police, the man threw his car into reverse and nearly hit a firefighter.  The man was stopped by a police officer who knocked in the car's passenger side window and removed the keys from the ignition.  The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution before being transferred to the local jail.

Michigan Man Wanted for Huffing and Fighting

A 43-year-old Michigan man is being sought in connection to an assault outside a substance abuse rehabilitation center.

The man ran off after a confrontation where he was seen punching and kicking another man.  Police say the man was seen huffing glue out a bag, and that the man has been the subject of many other calls.  This week the man was also seen huffing paint.  Captain O'Brien with the police department said, "He's got a major, major huffing problem."

The man fled from the scene and is still being sought by police.

Texas Teen Involved in High Speed Chase, Suspected of Huffing

A 16-year-old Texas man is accused in a 100 mph chase with a stolen car.  The teen is facing several felony charges after stealing a car from a Head Start school parking lot.  Police say they followed the teen in a high-speed chase that ended when the stolen car got involved in a two-car accident.  The man is known to huff paint, and first responders to the car crash said the teen had a strong odor of paint on him at the time of the accident.

Man Arrested for Huffing Gold Paint in Tennessee

Last week a 21 year old man was charged with public intoxication and unlawful possession of an inhalant. Police responded to a call of a man "yelling at himself" and found the man with gold paint on his face and he "seemed to be intoxicated from huffing the paint." They found the bag with the gold paint he had been using and also discovered he was on probation for "possession of an inhalant."

Homeless Man Huffs Paint and Kicks Cat in Tennessee

A homeless man became upset after being arrested for public intoxication after huffing paint.  He kicked a pet carrier containing a cat, which had a wire around its neck for a leash that was caught in its mouth., and was arrested for animal cruelty. 

Man Huffs Paint Thinner and Assaults 7 Year Old Boy.

A 57 year old man, in an altered state after huffing paint thinner, assaulted a 7 year old neighbor. The man walked across the street to where the boy was playing and pinned him against a telephone pole. A mailman intervened and the man was taken to the hospital and charged with unlawful restraint of a minor, simple assault, and illegal use of certain solvents and noxious substances. 

Maine Man Found Unconscious on Riverbank After Huffing Paint

Earlier this week, a bicycle rider noticed a man lying on the bank of the Kennebec River and after unsuccessfully trying to wake him, he called 911.  When they responded, police found a 20 year old male unconscious and intoxicated with empty alcohol containers near him and an empty paint can nearby. 

The first rescue scene on the scene called for additional manpower to assist in removing the man and he was transported to the hospital.  He is suspected of having huffed paint "which is illegal use of an inhalant and is a criminal offense."

South Carolina Man Charged with Huffing Paint Behind Pizzeria

A 41 year old man was arrested earlier this week after police caught him huffing from a paint can. Police had noticed a fire in the woods behind a local pizza restaurant and upon investigating found the man "with a plastic Walmart bag to his face and a paint can near his knees" and fresh black paint was visible around his nose. He was charged with open burning and inhaling aromatic hydrocarbons.

Ohio Man Threatens Cops and Punches Dog In the Face After Huffing

A 52 year old man erupted in a violent spat after huffing paint thinner.  When police arrived at his home he used a flashlight to smash one of the windows. He then threatened to shoot the officers so they called in a SWAT team which led to a 4 hour standoff. 

He wielded a large kitchen knife, hurled a knife at one person, chased another with a nail-spiked plank, and punched a pit bull in the face. He was taken into custody and then tried to kick out the windows of the police car.  He was arrested for felonious assault, aggravated menacing, cruelty to animals, and criminal damaging.

North Dakota Man Arrested for Huffing Paint Outside Church

Police responding to a report of a suspicious man at a local fitness center. When they responded they found a man in the parking lot of the church next door, with gold paint on his clothes and around his mouth. He also had a 24 ounce can of gold paint in his jacket pocket and he admitted to huffing the paint.

He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor counts of illegally inhaling dangerous vapors to get high and criminal mischief and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and $225 in mandatory fees. The prosecutor noted the man’s five previous huffing cases.

West Virginia Man Arrested After Huffing Spray Paint in Apartment

A 52 year old man was arrested after neighbors had complained about the strong paint odor coming from his apartment. He opened the door and police saw that he had “metallic silver paint on his face, hands and clothing.”

Texas Woman Arrested for Huffing

A 56-year-old Paris, Texas woman was arrested after she was found allegedly huffing a can of paint.   Police determined she was intoxicated and posed a danger to herself.  She was arrested when she became belligerent and began cursing at the police officer.


  

Oklahoma Man Faces Second Arrest for Huffing

A 50-year-old man from Rogers County, Oklahoma was recently arrested for huffing paint and driving under the influence of drugs. The man was idling in his car just outside the home when police arrived. Officers found him in a confused state, and report finding a gold paint can on the driver's seat. Paint was found on the abuser's face, hands, and clothing.

This is the man's second arrest in two months, the first in June for huffing and attacking a neighbor nearby. During the first attack, the man was shot by the homeowner.

He also has a 2011 conviction for driving under the influence in a nearby county. Officials have charged him with driving under the influence and obstructing an officer.

Oklahoma Man Shoots Man Huffing on His Property

At 6:30 in the morning, a retired firefighter heard a man yelling on his property so he grabbed his gun and went to see what was happening.

 He found a 50 year old man huffing paint and refusing to leave his property.  The man became argumentative and attacked the homeowner.   The homeowner responded by “hitting the man over the head with his gun several times” and when he wouldn’t back down, he fired a warning shot.  The man ripped the homeowner’s shirt “to shreds” and eventually the homeowner shot the man.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment and will be arrested.  It was discovered that the man had been arrested last month for huffing paint and he “fought with deputies at that time as well.”

South Carolina Man Arrested Sixth Time for Huffing

A 32 year old Charleston man was arrested last week on charges of huffing spray paint.  Around 1:45 am on a Sunday police heard loud noises and upon investigation in a marshy area by the highway found the man “clutching a 4-inch knife, spinning in circles and talking to himself.”  They then smelled the spray paint and noticed the gold spray paint on the man’s body and clothes along with three paint cans nearby, each with a hole in the side.

The man denies the charges and the police report lists his reason.  “He stated that he sprays the gold paint and places the rag on his mouth. When the devil worshippers come after him and try to orally sexually assault him, the paint gets on their genitals, and he can use that information to prosecute them.” Since 2006 the man has been arrested and convicted on five glue-sniffing charges. For the most recent incident he faces a charge “sniffing aromatic hydrocarbons”
