Minnesota Senate Votes to Include Huffing in DWI Laws

St. Paul, MN - Minnesota senators voted 62-4 to include huffing compressed air in their DWI law. They also voted to include snowmobiles and ATVs as part of the law. 

Driver Who Caused Fatal Crash Sentenced to 11 Years

A driver was inhaling keyboard cleaner when he rear ended another vehicle, fatally inuring a 9-year-old girl. He was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and received a DUI. Five canisters of the cleaner were found in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

A Westerville, Ohio man is given 7 years in prison after causing a fatal wreck while being under the influence of an inhalant. The man admitted to aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular assault after huffing from a can of air duster and killing a veteran in a head on collision. In addition to his sentence, his license has been suspended for 25 years and he has been ordered to pay $33,837 dollars to the late veteran's wife, who was in the vehicle as well.

A 22 year old Espanola man nearly dies after passing out while huffing an air duster in a mall washroom. Police found the man slumped over in the stall. The man was charged with shoplifting and violating prohibition for consumption of toxic substances.

A Danville, Pennsylvania Police Chief has been fired after inhaling an electronics cleaner while on duty. The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing an electronic cleaning product and using it to get high. He is serving 12 months' probation and is to complete community service.

In the New York metropolitan area, a former professional model is taking her billionaire ex-husband to court in order to regain visitation rights with their daughter. The woman has reportedly been cut off from her since their last court appearance in which the wealthy Long Island trader released a video of his ex-wife inhaling air-blast spray which is commonly used to clean computer keyboards.

In response to her ex-husband’s allegations that his actions have been simply been in the best interests of their daughter, the former model emphasizes that the girl need a mother in her life. Also she claims that her 2013 overdose was driven by stresses caused by her drawn out custody battle.

Michigan Man Crashes into Utility Pole after Huffing

On the night of Sunday October 4, 2015, a man crashed his truck into a utility pole near Coopersville, Michigan. However, the Ottawa County Police Department has stated that the man was not injured from the collision.

According the local reports, the damage was fairly extensive as several power lines were pulled down in the process. Additionally, the department reported that the man in question inhaled canned air duster while driving and subsequently blacked out. He was taken into custody shortly afterwards.

Woman Found Dead in Delaware Motel: Inhalant Abuse-related

A 27 year old woman was found dead on Saturday October 3^rd 2015. The police were alerted of this occurrence by her 31 year old boyfriend who claimed to have found her in a motel in a Murfreesboro, Delaware motel room.

The boyfriend told the authorities that the woman had inhaled duster the night before. However, the exact cause and manner of death has yet to have been reported by the local medical examiner’s office. Currently the Murfreesboro police department is considering the incident to be part of an “unintended death investigation.”

Man Arrested in South Carolina for Inhalant Abuse-related Theft

A 24 year old man in Charleston, South Carolina was arrested for stealing a can of keyboard cleaner from a local store on Saturday September 12^th 2015. He admitted to doing so in order to become intoxicated by inhaling it. Records indicate that the man was found unconscious with the can next to him in close proximity to the store.

Typically this crime would be a misdemeanor in South Carolina. However, since the young man has prior convictions, he will be given a felony charge according to local authorities. 

South Carolina Man Cited for Huffing Twice in Two Weeks

The 32 year old driver who nearly hit a school bus a little over a week ago has been stopped for abusing inhalants behind the wheel again. 

On Saturday night they received a call about a man passed out in a running vehicle in a restaurant's parking lot. He was passed out in the driver's seat with a can of computer duster in his hand and later admitted to huffing two cans within the past hour--and eight cans within the past six hours.

A medic was called because the man was slow to wake up and he complained of sever pain in his kidneys. He was issued a citation for inhaling aromatic hydrocarbons.  Police note they are "seeing an increase in adults huffing keyboard cleaner" and that when they get calls they "look for cans in cars now."

Driver Almost Hits School Bus While Huffing In the Car

A 32 year old man was charged with inhaling aromatic hydrocarbons, passing a stopped school bus and resisting police after an inhalant related incident.

Police responded to a call of a reckless driver at 7:30 am last Wednesday.  The witness had reported the man almost hit, then passed a school bus with its red flashing lights. They found the driver huffing from a can of keyboard cleaner.  he told police he had just gotten off work but when they noted the time, he indicated he was going to work. Seven cans of the duster were removed from the car, five were empty and two were cold to the touch indicating they had just been used. His car was towed, he was taken to the medical center and then brought to jail.

Pennsylvania Man Passes Out After Huffing Keyboard Cleaner

A 41 year old man was arrested after police noticed him huffing computer duster in the back of a taxi cab.  He lost consciousness, was arrested and faces charges of possession and inhaling the fumes of a toxic chemical for the purposes of causing a condition of intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Pennsylvania Found Huffing Outside Pet Store, Bleeding From Nose

A 38 year old man was charged with several misdemeanors after he was found huffing from cans of compressed gas outside a pet store. The police report notes he was “largely incoherent,” was bleeding from his nose, and he had a white foamy substance coming from his mouth. They also found four cans of compressed gas nearby. 

Kansas Teen Suffers Broken Jaw After Driving While Huffing

An 18 year old man suffered a broken jaw and is facing multiple charges after an inhalant abuse related accident.  After he was huffing computer duster behind the wheel his car left the road and struck a pole. He is facing charges of: “driving under the influence, driving left of center, unlawful abuse of a toxic substance and possibly aggravated endangerment of a child because the passenger in the car was under the age of 18.”

Illinois Woman Arrested After Passing Out While Driving

A 36 year old Illinois woman was arrested on suspicion of inhaling toxic vapors after police found her semi-conscious in her car with a can of computer duster in her hand.

Officers noticed the car cross the centerline and stop on the opposite side of the road. The driver told them she had purchased the product at Walmart and “had been huffing it” as she drove home. She refused treatment and was transported to jail.
