A Washington teen was convicted of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault. The young man caused a car crash after huffing, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl and injuries to three others. The driver who caused the accident was not injured. After the crash, he tested positive for difluoroethane, a chemical found in computer duster. He is facing 16 years in prison.

A driver was inhaling keyboard cleaner when he rear ended another vehicle, fatally inuring a 9-year-old girl. He was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and received a DUI. Five canisters of the cleaner were found in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Multiple Crashes Caused by Driver Huffing Behind the Wheel in New York

A 39 year old man was arrested after an inhalant abuse
related crash. He “lost
control of the vehicle, then accelerated and crashed into a vehicle that
was parked in a driveway and nearly struck a man who was shoveling near the
vehicle.”
He then continued to accelerate and crashed into an apartment building,
causing major damage before “continuing out of control across the roadway, nearly
colliding with another building before coming to a rest.” The tenants in the apartment building were “trapped
inside their apartment for a short while until they could be rescued through a
sealed doorway to another adjoining apartment."
When a deputy from the Sheriff’s office responded he found
the man huffing from a can of computer duster. The man responded he was nervous after the
crash so he started huffing in order to deal with the stress. He was arrested and taken to a mental health center for evaluation. Monday, August 19, 2013
Georgia Man Found Huffing in Locked Car

A 27 year old man was arrested earlier this month after
police found him slumped over in a car that was stopped in the middle of the
road.
The officer tried to open the car door but it was locked and
the driver’s “eyes were dilated and he looked confused or dazed.” When the man
would not stop huffing from a can of computer duster, the officer broke the
window to gain access to the car. The
man resisted officers’ attempts to remove him from the car until they earned
him he would be tased. He’s being
charged with DUI and impeding the flow of traffic.

Huffing Before and After a Crash in South Carolina

A 24 year old male has been arrested after allegedly huffing
behind the wheel both before and after a crash.
He was charged with “reckless driving, inhaling aromatic hydrocarbon,
and expired tags.”
A witness reported seeing the driver driving slowly down the
road and then “slumped over his steering wheel as the
car went off the side of the road, drove down a steep embankment and crashed
into a ditch, nearly colliding with another vehicle in a nearby parking lot.”
The driver was disoriented and still trying
to huff from cans of computer duster after the crash. He was taken to the
hospital for treatment and booked into the local detention center.

A woman escaped major injury when a truck driven by a teenager, who is accused of huffing duster while driving, crashed through her bedroom wall.
The truck crashed through the outer wall and came to rest in her bedroom. She sustained scrapes and bruising to the head which was caused by the truck tire.
The accident happened at 3PM on Sunday. The driver, reportedly disoriented, exited on the passenger side of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Huffing Driver Nearly Crashes Into Cop

Earlier this week, a 28 year-old man nearly hit a police car while huffing from a can of computer duster. The officer swerved to avoid the car and as the car passed, the officer noticed the man was holding the can to his face.
The driver admitted to stealing three cans of computer duster from Wal-Mart and huffing from them while driving. He was charged with “careless driving, failure to stay in his lane, driving under suspension and retail theft.” He was arraigned and released on $10,000 bail.

The 22-year-old driver responsible for causing a fatal wreck last January was sentenced Tuesday in Snyder County. Jessica Curry admitted to huffing computer duster prior to “swerving into oncoming traffic and striking another vehicle head on” in an accident that killed her 20-year-old friend and passenger Jason Noll, and left a 56-year-old woman wheel chair bound.
Curry was “sentenced for homicide by vehicle” after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide, illegal use of solvents, two counts of driving on the wrong side of the road, and a seat belt violation back in September. Authorities recovered several cans of dust remover from Curry’s vehicle at the accident scene.

Authorities recovered several cans of dust remover from Curry’s vehicle at the accident scene.At the request of Jason Noll’s family, Judge Harold Woelfel Jr. “rejected the state’s request for a state prison sentence of up to seven years” and instead “imposed a county jail term of less than two years.” Noll’s family wanted Curry to “have the chance to turn her life around” –even granting her their forgiveness for Jason’s death.
According to court documents Curry was an avid ‘huffer’ who would get high with her mother on a regular basis (who is now in a state mandated drug treatment facility). Along with serving her term in county jail, Curry will serve six years of probation- requiring her to enroll in a drug treatment program and abstain from using alcohol and drugs. Moments before her sentencing Curry addressed the court stating, “I’m really sorry…I’m not a bad person…I just made a mistake.”

A 24-year-old driver responsible for hitting two vehicles in a collision last August has admitted to inhaling computer duster while driving. The 24-year-old male reportedly crashed into two cars before slamming his vehicle into a tree; injuring his female passenger. Yesterday in court, the driver pled guilty to charges of driving under the influence and fleeing from an accident. In exchange for a guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop the additional three felony charges and four misdemeanor charges filed in connection with the accident. The 24-year-old is expected back in court on December 14th for sentencing. He faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail for each charge.

Driver Passes Out In Traffic

West Virginia Police issuing a routine vehicle inspection point over the weekend discovered an unmoving vehicle in line to be the cause of traffic back up and delays. Police found the vehicle’s 18 year-old male driver passed out at the wheel along with an unconscious female passenger. Officers believe both were “huffing inhalants” and taking prescription drugs in the car, as a bottle of Oxycodone was recovered from the driver’s possession.
According to police reports the teen driver was also involved in an accident just hours before being discovered unconscious, wherein extensive damage was elicited to a chain link fence bordering a local car dealership. The driver is currently in jail, and is being held on charges related to a handful of crimes including; DUI, simple possession, fleeing the scene of an accident, and driving without a license.

Yet another life has been claimed in connection with faulty inhalant consumption. Last week an elderly woman was hit and killed by a chemically intoxicated driver, while picking fruit.
Police reports reveal that the driver- high on computer duster, lost control of his pick up truck and struck the elderly victim. A can of computer keyboard duster was found in the driver’s car along with a receipt validating its purchase; a mere 11 minutes earlier.
The incident has elicited a firestorm of community discussion prompting local drug and alcohol treatment officials to take direct action; exposing the dangerous and life threatening consequences of ‘huffing.’ Efforts have also sought to enhance parental awareness of the domestic risks associated with inhalant abuse.
