Tennessee Man Sustains Burns While Huffing

A man in Tennessee was seriously injured when the aerosol can he was huffing ignited reported by police. He stole the cleaning product before huffing behind the store. His arrest record exceeds twenty pages, mostly for theft and huffing. He sustained severe burns to his hands. Aerosol can ignite if the inhaler is smoking a cigarette or is near a flame.

Washington Woman Hospitalized and Arrested Following Theft of Canned Air
A 31 woman in western Washington State was found passed out
in a public bathroom on Saturday October 17th after huffing a significant
amount of canned air. Once taken into custody, the police brought her to
Providence Centralia Hospital.
Furthermore, the police cited the woman in question on
suspicion of third-degree theft and inhaling toxic fumes.

A 24 year old man in Charleston, South Carolina was arrested
for stealing a can of keyboard cleaner from a local store on Saturday September
12th 2015. He admitted to doing so in order to become intoxicated by
inhaling it. Records indicate that the man was found unconscious with the can
next to him in close proximity to the store.
Typically this crime would be a misdemeanor in South
Carolina. However, since the young man has prior convictions, he will be given
a felony charge according to local authorities.

Repeat Huffer Arrested in California

Police responded to a call of a man huffing from an aerosol can with his pants down. They located a 36 year old man and noticed he had a can with him and that he was currently on probation for possessing inhalants. He was placed under arrest on suspicion of possessing an inhalant and violating probation.
The next morning officers responded to a call for a subject who had stolen several cans from a store and it was believed he was huffing from them in the back of the building. Employees of the store noticed he had inhaled from the can before leaving the store, discarded the can, and vomited before proceeding to the back of the store with the remaining cans. Police discovered it was the same man from the previous evening's incident. He began huffing as officers approached. He was arrested once again.

Earlier this month, police were called to a Walmart for a case of "retail theft, public intoxication and a possible medical emergency."

A 36 year old man stole several cans of computer duster from a Staples store and led police officers and state troopers on a chase. He was found stopped on the Parkway, officers noticed him huffing from the can, and he refused to leave the car. Huffing, Shoplifting, and Car Theft in Georgia

A 26-year-old man in Georgia faces charges of car theft, shoplifting, probation violation, and improper use of a substance.
Police were called to investigate a shoplifting report when they found the man inhaling from a computer duster can in his car. Police later found 25 empty cans in the young man's car.
Because the man was highly intoxicated, police took him to the hospital. Police left the man at the emergency room, and they planned on charging him with shoplifting after he received medical attention. The man fled the hospital and found an unlocked car with the keys inside. He drove away from the hospital, but crashed into the woods.
The man then attempted to escape on foot, but the police department's K-9 unit caught up with him. Police learned that the man had been on probation in another county and now faces additional charges.

This week, seven Australian teenagers led police on a 2-hour car chase after they huffed paint fumes and stole 2 BMWs.
The teenagers ranged in age from 13 to 19, and all of them are facing criminal charges. The chase was captured on video by a local TV station, and reports compare the randomness of the act and the erratic driving style to something one would find in a video game.

Pennsylvania Man Steals and Huffs Duster

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police found him lying on the ground after inhaling duster.
The man told police he was waiting for the bus, and when the police asked about the cans of duster around him, he simply responded, “I was huffing them.”
Police learned that he had stolen the cans from a convenience store, and they arrested the man for illegal use of solvents and noxious substances, public drunkenness and receiving stolen property. The man is currently in jail and has a hearing scheduled for next week

A 28-year-old man was charged with felony burglary for stealing 42 cans of computer duster from a store in July. Employees reported that the man took multiple cans and left the store without paying, then returned several times repeating the action. Police found the man behind the store with 42 empty cans. A 36-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with theft after inhaling almost $1,800 worth of refrigerant from the air conditioning systems of five of his neighbors. Last fall, the man was discovered multiple times by his neighbors slumped in their yards between the house and the air conditioning unit. Whenever police arrived, he would not respond and appeared unconscious. The man admitted to police he had inhaled refrigerant and was taken to the hospital. The felony charge of theft carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Man Ruptures Eight A/C Units for Refrigerant
A 29-year-old man was found huffing refrigerant from an A/C unit.
The man was found crouched between a house and the unit. He was huffing from one of eight A/C units on the block that he had ruptured lines to obtain refrigerant.
The man was charged with Class D felony theft and Class A misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Huffing and Burglary on the Increase in One CA Community

Local law enforcement is concerned about a recent increase in huffing in their community. In addition, they are noticing an increase in a “rash of thefts, including a major burglary, of those products.”
In one case, 20 boxes of whipping cream chargers, worth about $200, were stolen from an establishment. The owner called police to report a break-in. A 2.5 lb barbell had been thrown through a glass door but nothing seemed to be missing. He soon noticed the chargers missing and related it to the fact that many teens had been asking about them recently. Over a concern they were being used for inhalant purposes he had put them behind the counter.

Police in LaPorte are looking into refrigerant being stolen from several residential air conditioning units in their area. They are concerned the refrigerant is being used as an inhalant.
