A 36-year-old Texas woman has been arrested for driving while huffing from a can of duster. After causing a head on collision with another vehicle, the woman tried to continue inhaling from the can. The woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated, a third degree felony.

Wyoming Man Crashes Car After Abusing Inhalants

A 22 year old man was arrested after crashing his car after allegedly huffing computer dusting spray behind the wheel. He fled from the scene but was quickly found and charged with Driving While Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, and Duty to Report an Accident.

Oregon Woman Crashes Into House, Punches Cop

A 27 year-old woman was arrested after crashing her car into a house and then punching a police officer in the face, breaking his nose.
The officer saw the crash and approached the vehicle whereupon the driver resisted arrest and assaulted the officer. Neighbors gave police the cans they say she threw from her car. She was charged with “driving under the influence of inhalants, failure to perform the duties of a driver, and reckless driving."

Earlier this month a 23 year-old man was arrested after an inhalant related crash.
The officer was driving when he noticed a car stopped at a green light. The driver pulled into a gas station and then lurched forward crashing into a concrete post. When the officer approached the car he found the man huffing from a can of computer dusting spray.

Mother’s Day is a very important holiday at MADD, since we were founded by a mother who lost her daughter to drunk driving. This Mother’s Day, we honor all of the victims who have lost a mother or a child to drunk or drugged driving.
For more than 30 years, MADD has worked hard to put an end to drunk driving. Study after study shows what happens when alcohol and driving are mixed—tragedy. But while drunk driving remains one of the primary threats on America’s roadways, alcohol isn’t the only drug that causes heartbreak on our roadways. We are also seeing a growing trend of drugged driving crashes, including illicit drugs, prescriptions drugs (when not used properly) and inhalants. Although the substances are different, the consequences are the same—needless deaths and injuries.

Collision Caused As a Result of Huffing

A 31-year-old Washaba woman was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation after causing a collison by crossing into oncoming traffic.
The woman was driving after huffing a dust remover.
The collision severely injured another driver.
Each charge carries a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She appears in court May 18.

Woman Crashes Into Utility Pole After Disorientation From Gas Cleaner

A 30-year-old Cambridge woman was charged with OUI after crashing her vehicle into a utility pole.
The woman told police she had been huffing gas cleaner and smoking pot while driving which led her become disoriented and crash into the utility pole.
Police found a glass pipe with a green substance and a can of cleaner inside the vehicle.
The woman was arrested on four different charges that include: smelling a substance with toxic vapors, OUI of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay in marked lines.

Driver Witnesses Another Driver Huffing While Driving

A caller reported to police that he had witnessed a man stop in the middle of an intersection and huff from an aerosol can. After huffing the man shook his head and fell against the door, reported the witness.
The witness then followed the driver and informed the authorities of where he was heading.
Paramedics arrived and reported that there were two aerosol cans in the vehicle, one between the mans legs and one on the floor.
Officers then caught up with the man and he proceeded to tell them he did not know where he was. Officers confiscated the aerosol cans and a needle and spoon with heroin residue on them.
The man was arrested and charged with possesion of inhalants, obstructing a roadway and driving with a suspended license.

Driver Pleads Guilty in Vehicular Homicide Case

A 20 year old Mount Holly man admitted that on March 18, 2010, he had used marijuana and duster to get high before getting behind the wheel.
The driver lost control and crossed a busy highway before crashing into another vehicle driven by a beloved local teacher, who died at the scene.
The 20 year old Mount Holly man and his passenger were also injured in the crash.
The driver plead guilty to vehicular homicide, assault with auto, driving while impaired, and driving without insurance. He is expected to be sentenced to 6 years in prison, and must also pay restitution to the victim's family.
