17 Year Old Nevada Teen Dead After Huffing Dusters

A17 year old male has died, a week after passing out after huffing computer dusting spray.  He immediately went on life support, remained in a coma for a week and was removed from life support this past Saturday.

Ohio Man Crashes Car Into House After Abusing Inhalants

A 35 year-old man crashed his car into a house after allegedly inhaling computer dusting spray behind the wheel.  He was charged with “driving impaired and using harmful intoxicants.”

Michigan Man Found Huffing Duster in Parking Lot


Via the Canton Patch in Michigan:

Police responded to a call from a woman concerned her brother was inhaling computer duster in his car in a Walmart parking lot.  The officer found the man with a can of duster to his mouth and he recognized the man from an inhalant related incident two days prior.  12 cans of duster were found in the vehicle, seven of which were empty and only one that was completely full.

5 Year-old Chicago Girl Killed by Driver Huffing Behind the Wheel

An 18 year old Highland Park female has been charged with driving under the influence of an “intoxicating compound” after allegedly driving her car onto a sidewalk and fatally striking a 5 year old girl.

The article lists two other area cases: An 18 year Wonder Lake old male who died after inhaling propane fumes in 2010 and a 19 year old Palatine female who crashed her car after passing out behind the wheel.  It also notes the police in Palatine have noticed an increase in inhalant use in their community.

'Huffing' Does Not Constitute DUI in Some States

An out-of-state 40-year-old habitual aerosol huffer recently crashed her vehicle, injuring herself. According to the emergency room physician and two of her friends, she had been huffing, or inhaling the contents of an aerosol can in order to get high, just before the accident. Despite the prosecution's best efforts, she was not convicted of DUI in her state.

Police say they found two “unresponsive” men sitting in a car early Wednesday morning in Grand Forks, apparently passed out from “huffing” glue. In court, the judge lectured the two, telling them “you should be charged with stupidity as well. That’s a very dangerous activity and you are lucky you were observed by a police officer.”

Minnesota Man Must Pay Restitution for Huffing Neighbors' AC coolant

According to the report, an Apple Valley, 37-year-old man must pay "$1,521 in restitution and serve 10 days of community service for inhaling [coolants] from his neighbors' air conditioners".  The man plead guilty to felony theft for inhaling the coolant from five air-conditioning units.

Police: Woman was huffing before crashing into home in Arizona

On Wednesday, June 20, a 24-year-old woman crashed into a family's home in Jonesboro, Arizona. The crash was triggered by the woman inhaling computer dusting spray prior to the accident. She is said to have blacked out before the crash.

The woman was issued a citation for DWI-drugs, careless/prohibited driving, and no seat belt. She is expected in court June 25 and was released due to her injuries.

Massachusetts Woman Pleads Guilty in Huffing Crash

According to the report, an 18-year old Massachusetts woman plead guilty to charges including aggravated assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and impeded operation. The woman was huffing dusters when she lost consciousness, struck a woman, traveled 50 feet and hit two more people. She will serve two years in prison, three years probation, and lose her driver's license for five years.

3 Portsmouth teenagers were hospitalized after huffing vapors from air horns. The girls huffed the vapors on the school bus.  According to the report, once at school teachers noticed the girls were acting "out of the ordinary" and were sent to the school nurse.  The school nurse, with the advice of poison control, called police to have the girls taken to the hospital.  According to police at least one of the girls showed signs of an overdose.  All three girls may be facing criminal charges.
