A 28-year-old Idaho man was caught huffing in his car. Police were called to a Target parking lot on a suspicious person call. When officers arrived, they saw the man holding a can of computer duster and watched him put the nozzle in his mouth and huff from the can. Police say the man slumped over in the seat of his car, then repeated the process three more times. Officers tried to get the man's attention and noticed blood dripping from his mouth. Fearing for the man's safety, police opened the car door and turned the car off. Officers spent two minutes trying to wake the man up before he regained consciousness. When he woke, the man said he was just detailing his car. The man was cleared by paramedics and taken to jail.

Georgia Man Found Unconscious After Huffing

A 22 year-old Georgia man was arrested after being found lying unconscious in the woods.
The man was reported to have been lying in a parking lot when police were called. The man allegedly began fighting with an off-duty officer before running off into the woods. He was lying on his back in the woods when on-duty officers arrived and walked into the woods to follow him. According to police the man, "was unresponsive and (his) eyes were rolled to the back of his head." The man had a can of dusting spray in his hand. As the police removed the can from his hand he became responsive. He was able to walk with the police, but was unaware of what was going on.
Earlier in the day, the man had been suspected of shoplifting at Walmart and Target and had been escorted to the hospital due to huffing aerosol products from the stores. The man refused medical attention during the second arrest. He was issued a criminal trespass warning, arrested, and jailed on charges of loitering and public drunkenness.

Wisconsin Male Admits to Huffing 8 Cans Behind the Wheel

Earlier this month police were called to a store in Eau Claire for a report of a man passed out in a car. Man Found With Duster, Denies Intoxication

A Minnesota man was found unconscious in his car earlier this today. Feared to be intoxicated, Target patrons called the police. The man took nearly 20 seconds to respond to a tap on his shoulder, which confirmed suspicions. When he was finally roused, the man tried to disguise his apparent wrong doing.
The man, 35, claimed he was on his way to work and only parked in the lot for "a couple of minutes". However the man showed a worrying lack of coordination as he struggled to stand up straight upon exiting the car. A drug expert confirmed the man was not sober and police arrested him on the spot.
This is the second DWI charge issued to the St. Paul resident. In 2006, he was charged in a different county.

Duster Death in South Florida
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel ran a story today about Jason Emanuel, who died in February after inhaling computer duster.
He was originally from North Carolina and was arrested twice in December in Boynton Beach, Florida for huffing in his car outside of Wal-Mart. Soon after, he was arrested for huffing outside of a SuperTarget. The police reported him as being "unsteady on his feet" and "incoherent".
Jason had been kicked out of a drug rehabilitation halfway house a few days before his death on February 26th. He lived out of his car for three days until the police were called to a Wal-Mart where Jason told the officers that he had been huffing.
On the way to the hospital, he had a seizure and stopped breathing.
He was from an upper middle-class background and was educated in private schools. He studied at Appalachian State University before dropping out to seek treatment for his drug problems.
His father Chris said, "Jason was not a criminal. He wasn't a guy that would stick up the 7-Eleven. He had a problem and eventually it defeated him."
Chris also mentioned how Jason progressed from using marijuana to using inhalants, explaining,

"You see kids on YouTube joking around, laughing and having fun, and the risk really isn't conveyed. The frightening thing for us is how young the kids are who are using."
