Authorities have revealed that inhalant abuse was a cause of the fatal crash last March in Pemberton, New Jersey.
The 20 year-old driver reportedly huffed a can of computer duster in a Wal-Mart bathroom before getting into his car. His car soon veered off the road into oncoming traffic where it struck another car, killing the 27 year-old father who was behind the wheel.
The investigation found that the driver “made no attempt to steer or brake to avoid a collision.” Additionally, “Forensic tests indicated marijuana and Difluoroethane were present in (his) blood at the time of the collision.”
He was arrested last Friday on charges of “vehicular homicide, assault by auto and intoxication while under age. He was booked into the Burlington County Jail on $100,000 cash bail”

Crash Points to 'Dusting'

Authorities in Cleburne, Texas believe ‘huffing’ is to blame for a single vehicle wreck that occurred early Tuesday morning- injuring three. Although the investigation is ongoing, an officer was able to document the entire accident with a video recording device, revealing the vehicle “drive up on the curb, swerve back left, and cross all lanes of traffic before crashing into the side of a church, bouncing off and coming to a rest.”
None of the three people inside the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. According to police, the 23-year-old driver suffered minimal injuries. However, the front seat passenger, an 18-year-old male, was airlifted by helicopter to a nearby medical center where he is currently being treated for critical brain injuries. The third passenger, a 17-year-old male, was reportedly treated for a skull fracture.

A 'Black-Out' Behind The Wheel

A Missouri driver is being held on a “$50,000 cash-only bond following an automobile accident Saturday evening that caused severe damage to a local business and left another local resident with serious injuries.” A 23-year-old man was driving when he reportedly passed out behind the wheel, lost control of his vehicle, and veered off to the right-hitting a 24-year-old pedestrian and plowing through the side of a tattoo parlor.
Police believe the suspect was driving while under the influence of inhalants; “possibly ‘huffing’ [computer] dust remover” prior to the crash. The driver told police he had ‘blacked out’ only to wake up in the front seat of his car after the collision.
The 24-year-old injured in the incident sustained multiple injuries “including a laceration on his right knee from the front of the leg to the back” and was airlifted to Memphis, Tennessee where a full recovery is expected.
According to county prosecutors, the suspect is being charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. Additional charges are expected to be filed pending the results of a drug screening test. The suspect is facing anywhere from 2 to 7 years in jail for his involvement in Saturday’s accident.
