Norfolk, NE - A man in Norfolk Nebraska was arrested twice within a four-period for inhalant abuse. The first arrest occurred in the morning but he was later released after posting bail. Later in the afternoon he was arrested a second time after he was believed to be having an inhalant-induced seizure. The police found a 10-ounce air duster and he was arrested.

Virginia Man Acts Erratically After Huffing Disinfectant Spray

Earlier this week police in Arlington, Virginia responded to an incident where an 18 year old man was acting erratically after allegedly huffing a disinfectant spray. The man’s roommates were concerned when he started“hissing, speaking in tongues, shaking uncontrollably, trying to eat coins and had attempted to set his mattress on fire.”
When police arrived the man was “naked and still attempting to eat coins.” He resisted arrest, staying on all fours and growling at the officers, When he was tased, he tried to eat the taser cords. The man voluntarily committed himself for psychiatric evaluation.

16 Year Old Caught Huffing in Virginia

Last Friday while on patrol police in Staunton apprehended a 16 year old boy who had been huffing from an aerosol can. They released him to a guardian.

Chesterfield Business Leaders Join S.A.F.E. in Preventing Inhalant Abuse

Chesterfield, VA
Dominion Service Company and and James River Heating and Air have joined forces with S.A.F.E. (Substance Abuse Free Environment) in an attempt to prevent the abuse of refrigerant.
The two businesses are installing "special safety locking caps" on all newly installed air-conditioning units and, by request, retrofitting older units with a locking cap as well.
The President of Dominion Service company said agreeing to install the locking caps was a "no brainer" for them, and his company would be installing the locking caps for free on all A/C units.
Since a new law came into effect March 1, builders are now required to install the caps on units in newly constructed homes.
Once the cap is installed people would not be able to gain access to the refrigerant without a special tool that is only issued to licensed heating and air contractors.

Student Drug Use Making a Comeback in Virginia

A Norwood-Norfolk Central School survey has shown that illicit drug use by students has made a comeback. Students in grades 6,8,10 and 12 took part in the survey.
The classes of 2012 and 2014 showed elevated numbers of students using tobacco, marijuana and inhalants.
