Homeless Man Passes out in North Dakota Restroom After Huffing

A 33 year old homeless man locked himself in a Rent-A-Center restroom for several hours and was arrested for huffing computer duster.

Store staff called police after noticing the man had been locked in the room for hours and was unresponsive. Police found him face down on the floor with two cans of computer duster. He was arrested, charged with inhaling vapors-a Class B misdemeanor, taken to the hospital to be treated and then taken to jail.  He was ordered to serve 20 days in jail and given one day credit for time served.

Arrested for Huffing: Twice in the Same Day & In the Same Location

A 30 year-old man was arrested for inhalant abuse-twice in the same day and in the same parking lot. He had previously been arrested after driving under the influence of inhalants in August.

A police officer noticed a suspicious car in the mall parking lot and when he approached the car he saw the man put an aerosol can up to his mouth. He was arrested for inhalation of vapors and released after booking.

Around 8 hours later a different officer was driving through the mall parking lot when he noticed the car. Upon investigation he saw that the car was running and the driver was passed out holding an aerosol can in his hand. He was arrested and taken to the detention center where he was held on bond.

Two Huffing Related Crashes in North Dakota

Earlier this week two people were arrested in separate alleged huffing related incidents.

A 20 year old woman pleaded guilty to “driving under the influence and driving under suspension, both Class B misdemeanors, and inhalation of vapors, an infraction.” She was sentenced to nine days in jail, a year of unsupervised probation and $500 in fines. Police report that she had been inhaling computer dusting spray while driving when her pickup truck “"drove off the road into a ditch, continued traveling in a grassy field up a steep hill and crashed into a garage.”

Three hours later, a 30 year man was also involved in a huffing computer dusting spray while driving related incident. Officers responded to a report of a man passed out while stopped at an intersection but they located the car nearby in a ditch. It had nearly struck pedestrians, gone over a curb, and landed in a ditch. The driver was still behind the wheel and upon noticing the officers he tried to drive away. The judge suspended his sentence and ordered him to pay $600 in fines.
