A Wyoming psychiatrist was charged with driving under the influence for a second time in two months for huffing duster. During a preliminary hearing, charges of aggravated assault and misdemeanor DUI were waived. After inhaling, the man passed out while driving and crashed his vehicle into another car, injuring the other driver. The doctor specializes in treating addiction, but had his medical license suspended for struggling with addiction himself.

A Wisconsin man is set to go to trial for vehicular homicide. The man admitted to huffing duster before losing consciousness and killing a pedestrian in 2015. His lawyer claims the accident was caused by the driver removing a hand brace, which distracted him. His lawyer also states that the prosecutor must prove that he was intoxicated. He fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian. Police later found a can of air duster in his vehicle. The man reportedly told seven people that he believed huffing duster led to the crash. At the hospital, he tested positive for difluoroethane, the active ingredient in duster, but later tested negative upon retesting. His lawyer stated that her client huffed duster to ease pain from an existing injury.

A 21 year-old Manchester woman was huffing laughing gas or nitrous oxide from a balloon and lost control while she was driving, injuring herself and the two passengers inside. Her vehicle hit a van head on causing minor injuries to the other driver. She has been banned from driving for 34 months and has been jailed for 20 months. She has been sentenced for causing serious injuries to her two passengers.

A Helena, Montana teen blacked out while driving after huffing, causing her to run a red light and slam into another vehicle. The teenager and another passenger were huffing from a can of computer duster prior to the accident. The 17-year-old female driver is now facing felony charges for causing the crash and the month-long hospitalization of the other vehicle’s 88-year-old driver.

Georgia Man Huffs Propane, Burns Self and Burns Down House

This past weekend, a man severely burned himself after
huffing propane. As a result his house also burned down and was declared a
total loss.
A witness reported the man passed out while huffing propane,
leaving the valve on the propane bottle open. When he woke up he lit a
cigarette igniting the fire. The man was pulled to safety and suffered bad

This past Saturday, a young Maryland man was driving his car southbound on Three Notch Road before falling asleep at the wheel and veering off to strike a tree and later a parked Saturn with two occupants. Inside the car was an adult male, and an eight month old child. After crashing, the driver was unable to immediately identify what had happened, and even questioned bystanders, asking "What happened? Did I hit something?"
The driver was arrested and charged with inhaling harmful substances, as well as many other reckless driving offenses including driving without a license, failure to stop after an accident involving damage, and life and persons.

The prosecutor has indicated the woman faces serious injuries including broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and the loss of feeling in her legs. The driver was huffing while driving and immediately blacked out, running into the sidewalk. Michigan Teen Crashes Car into Security Guard After Using Inhalants Behind the Wheel

A 16 year-old male student is being charged after an inhalant related crash. On May 16th, the teen allegedly “squirted a cleaning product from a spray can onto a rag and then took a deep sniff before passing out while driving” in the school’s parking lot.
The car then hit a 52 year-old security guard, who was “thrown into the air, landing on her head while the car continued through the intersection, over a curb and through a field” before it came to a stop after sideswiping a tree. It is reported the car was traveling at 45 mph.
The police report notes that the driver regained consciousness before instructing the 15 year-old passenger to lie to police and tell them the driver lost control of the car in an attempt to retrieve his cell phone. Man Suspected of Huffing Bites Police Officer

Police were called to a hotel in Moss Point after hotel officials requested backup while dismissing a man who lived and worked at the hotel. According to reports, the man became extremely agitated while he was escorted from the property. He then “bit one of the officers and sent him to the hospital.”
The Police Chief suspects that the man had been huffing some sort of chemical prior to the incident, because officers noticed “a very heavy odor of lacquer” in the man’s room.
The man was arrested for assault of a police officer and resisting arrest. The police officer he bit was treated and released from the hospital.

A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 13-17 months in prison for vehicular assault and felony hit and run. In July, the man was driving and distracted by his cell phone and a heated argument with his mother. He did not see a stopped car at an intersection and swerved his car to avoid it. However, he lost control and hit a gas station pump and a woman’s minivan. The distracted driver’s SUV struck and pinned the woman’s right leg, nearly severing it. A toxicology report indicated that the driver had consumed an inhalant prior to getting behind the wheel.
Since the accident, the woman has endured eight surgeries requiring a total of 31 days in the hospital at a cost more than $220,000. Her right leg will be about two inches shorter than her left.

The 45-year-old victim is now in a coma. The car traveled about 50 more feet before hitting a 22-year-old woman getting out of her car. Man Addicted To Huffing Gasoline Sets Nephew On Fire

A 21-year-old man alleges that his uncle set him on fire in 2009, leaving him nearly deaf in one ear. He “sustained burns on 30 percent of his body, including his arms, neck and head.” The nephew claims that once he told his uncle to move out of their apartment because of his habit of huffing gasoline, his uncle threw gasoline on him “and it started burning.” The nephew was rushed to the hospital for treatment; skin graphs were not necessary.
Thirty minutes before the uncle doused his nephew that day, he threw gasoline on his girlfriend while the two were refilling a sports drink bottle with gasoline at a gas station. The girlfriend claims he threatened to set her on fire after she told him she was leaving him. The uncle is charged with attempted murder in the second degree, third-degree felony assault with intent to commit a violent felony, third-degree felony aggravated battery against a household member, fourth-degree felony false imprisonment and third-degree felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Woman Endangers Life of Infant Son

A Pennsylvania woman is being charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, and endangering the life of her infant son for a violent car crash in July. 19 Year Old Minnesota Man Injured Two in Inhalant Related Crash
A 19 year old man was sentenced to 90 days in jail, five years probation and a $500 fine for injuring two passengers while driving under the influence of inhalants. The judge also ordered restitution in an undetermined amount.
The Hastings, Minnesota resident plead guilty to two felony counts of Criminal Vehicular Operation (causing great bodily harm while under the influence of a hazardous substance). The charges stemmed from a car crash last August that left two teen passengers suffering from broken bones and lacerations.

Mansfield Man Charged With Assault In Huffing Crash

Last week, an Ohio judge ruled that the driver in a March crash was guilty of vehicular assault. Police reports indicated the young man was huffing before he started driving. His impaired condition endangered other drivers as well as the five passengers packed into his Saturn Ion. The 18-year old's car crossed the highway median and shot up an embankment into a cluster of trees.
The report did not say if he was injured but at least one of his passengers sustained long-term damage. A 16-year old involved in the accident is just getting her life back together.
"She's walking pretty good now. Thank God for that, but she can't go out and play. She just has to be very careful" her stepfather said.
The young man was not jailed, but did receive a six month sentence in a juvenile detention center. He pled guilty to an additional theft charge and, pending a judges ruling, may be granted an early release.
