Pennsylvania Woman Drives Into Subway High on Duster

 "Police are investigating after a woman crashed her truck into a sign and later admitted she had been 'huffing' prior to the crash.
North Huntingdon Township police were sent to the scene at a Subway restaurant on Route 30 shortly before 4 p.m. According to police, a 23-year-old woman struck the sign outside the restaurant with her pickup truck, and the truck became fully engulfed in flames. The woman and her 5-year-old son were helped out of their vehicle by an eyewitness. The woman sustained minor injuries, and the child was unharmed.
The eyewitness told police that the woman threw something into a nearby dumpster after escaping the flaming truck. In the dumpster, police found a can of compressed gas. The woman later admitted that she had been 'huffing' the computer duster prior to the crash."

New Hampshire Man Arrested for Huffing, Assaulting Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest

"Police said a man was found "huffing" in his car sitting in a parking lot.
Wednesday afternoon, police responded to the parking lot of the Colonial Plaza in West Lebanon to find a 26-year-old man passed out in his parked car. Police also saw several cans of computer duster in the car with the man when they tried to wake him.
The man then grabbed one of the duster cans and began to inhale the vapors. Police ordered him to stop, trying to take the can away from him, but he then slammed the door on the officer and continued to inhale the vapor.
The man was evaluated at the scene and charged with simple assault on a police officer and resisting arrest - both Class A misdemeanors. He was also charged with inhaling toxic vapors for effect - a violation level offense.

Police Arrest Arkansas Woman Accused of Huffing Behind the Wheel

Police arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, despite her denying use of any intoxicants. 

"The arresting officer said she acted 'surprised and insulted' when he asked if she had been inhaling any sort of paint or computer duster.
She denied having any type of inhalant in the vehicle and agreed to a search of the car, the report stated.
When she got out of the car and officer at the scene said he 'noticed her shoving something up her shirt.'
Not sure if the 'large bulge' in her stomach area was a weapon or not, the officer reportedly ordered her to place her hands on top of the car then grabbed the object hidden beneath her waistband.
“It was a can of air duster,” the officer stated in the report.
"[Two officers] noted the can was empty and cold, indicating it had been recently used."

South Dakota Woman Gets 5-Year Sentence for Inhalant Arrest

A South Dakota woman involved in a high-speed chase from the police while intoxicated on computer duster was sentenced to five years in jail. After hitting several trees and nearly hitting an oncoming driver at speeds up to 91 mph, the woman was finally apprehended by police, at which point she bit the officers as they handcuffed her. The officers reported she was so intoxicated that she could hardly sit up. Police also reported that they had seen her inhaling from the can of duster prior to the collisions with trees and driving off the road. Given her history of 5 previous DUI offenses and potential to repeat, the judge ruled that she be given five years in jail.

Man found passed out after “huffing” inhalants in store bathroom

"Police in Lancaster say a man was found passed out in a Transit Road store bathroom after “huffing” inhalants. The 38-year-old was seen sitting on a toilet with a can of compressed gas pressed against his mouth, according to police. Authorities say he became conscious again minutes later.
During a search, officers say they located two cans of computer duster in the men’s bathroom and four more bottles in the women’s bathroom. The ones found in the women’s bathroom had been used, according to police.
The man was taken to ECMC for treatment. Police expect to charge him with a public health law violation. He could also face charges for petit larceny and burglary."

Man High on Duster Kills Veteran in Car Crash

A 27-year-old man driving 100 miles per hour killed a war veteran in a head-on collision on Monday.

According to the patrol's written report of the crash, troopers found a can of computer duster between the man's leg and his car's center console. The receipt showed the man had bought it just minutes earlier at the nearby Walmart, near the entrance to the highway where the crash occurred. The man has been charged with driving without a license, aggravated vehicle homicide charges and two counts of aggravated vehicular assault.

5 Arizona Elementary Students Sick after Huffing

One student who had fainted was expected to be ok, but was taken to the hospital along with another student for precautionary reasons. Maine Fatal Fire Likely Caused By Inhalants

The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office revealed that the car fire that proved fatal to a 34-year-old man was likely caused when fumes from an aerosol can were sparked by a cigarette. The man suffered severe facial and manual burns, but managed to walk to neighbor's house to call for help. From there, he was taken to Maine General Medical Center and then to Maine Medical Center, where he died. 
Investigators said that the man was "huffing" from an aerosol can, and found several empty aerosol cans inside the car. They also state that the man was a smoker, and the two factors combined to cause the fatal fire.

Wisconsin Man Caught Stealing and Huffing Dusters

An Eau Claire resident was caught stealing cans of computer cleaner from a local Menards store, and huffing them inside the business. Police were called to the store and found him struggling to maintain his balance and keep his eyes open, signs that he had been abusing the product in the store. He was reported to have stolen as many as 17 two-packs of the dusters, and police found several stolen cans in his vehicle. A $500 cash bail was set for the man, who returns to court March 14. As conditions of bail, he cannot have contact with Menards stores or possess aerosol cans.

South Carolina Woman Caught Huffing Duster in Walmart Bathroom

Spartanburg police were called to the scene at a local Walmart upon receiving reports of "someone spray painting the bathroom with the doors locked". Police arrived to find the suspect passed out on the bathroom floor, surrounded by eight cans of compressed air dusters. Six of the cans were taken from the Walmart. 
When discovered, the suspect had vomited and hit her head while falling inside the restroom. She was taken to the emergency room for immediate care, then booked for Inhalation of Hydrocarbons.

Utah Driver Huffs Duster, Crashes

An 18-year-old driver in Utah was found trapped in his vehicle following a crash into a light pole and palm tree. The driver was huffing computer duster while driving and lost consciousness, causing the violent crash. Emergency personnel transported him to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he remains.

According to the Police report, the man was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment of his pain and disorientation. Following treatment, he was charged with petit larceny, possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, inhalation of toxic vapors, and appearing under the influence in public.

"Huffing" Suspected in Fatal New York Car Accident

A 26-year-old driver was charged with criminally negligent homicide and third degree assault following a car accident that killed a 72-year-old grandmother. The grandmother was survived by her granddaughter in the accident in Depew, NY. Police reports do not specifically detail duster abuse as the cause, but sources familiar with the driver and her habits discuss her duster use being a problem in the past, likely contributing to loss of consciousness while driving. The driver could be facing up to 5 years in prison.

Florida Lobbyist Dies from Inhalant Abuse

Fred Leonhardt, a 65-year old lobbyist, attorney and political fundraiser, passed away in his home from a reported heart attack in October. Autopsy, however, discovered that a heart condition contributed to his death, which led to a final event of cardiac arrhythmia. Ethyl chloride, a compound found in cleaning solvents, was a factor that contributed to the fatal arrhythmia. Police recovered five aerosol bottles of a cleaning solvent and one bottle of nail polish remover, another potentially harmful intoxicant, at the scene. The autopsy also discovered substances in his blood consistent with the chemicals found in the aerosol cleaning solvent, leading to his death being ruled as an accident related to inhalant abuse.

North Carolina Man Arrested for Huffing at Grocery Store

A North Carolina man was arrested after tips came in of a suspicious person outside an Aldi grocery store. Employees requested that the man leave, but he did not, and was found outside the store by police. The police officers found two empty cans of computer duster in his backpack. The 34-year-old was arrested on charges of inhaling fumes for purpose of causing intoxication and second-degree trespassing.
