A Wisconsin man is set to go to trial for vehicular homicide. The man admitted to huffing duster before losing consciousness and killing a pedestrian in 2015. His lawyer claims the accident was caused by the driver removing a hand brace, which distracted him. His lawyer also states that the prosecutor must prove that he was intoxicated. He fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian. Police later found a can of air duster in his vehicle. The man reportedly told seven people that he believed huffing duster led to the crash. At the hospital, he tested positive for difluoroethane, the active ingredient in duster, but later tested negative upon retesting. Minnesota Man Huffing and Driving Crashes into Another Vehicle

A 26-year-old Minnesota man was charged with third-degree operating a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving and two counts of criminal vehicular operation after huffing and driving.
Officers responded to a call of a head on collision. The man driving was incoherent. Once coherent, he denied taking medications or drinking alcohol and he consented to a search of his car, "with the caveat that officers might find aerosol cans because he was 'huffing' the night before."
Officers found a partially empty aerosol can that had condensation and was cold to touch, meaning it had recently been used. In a statement to officers, the man said he took six to seven hits from the can while driving to work. The woman in the car he hit was taken to the hospital for back injuries.

Utah Man Causes 4-Car Accident While Huffing and Driving

A 37-year-old Utah man is believed to have been huffing and driving before causing a four-car accident. The man was heading northbound when he rear-ended the first car, also heading North. The man then veered into the southbound lanes hitting another car almost head on before spinning and hitting the third car. Two children, ages 9 and 10, were in the 1st car and hospitalized with serious injuries. A 30-year-old woman had to be extricated from the 2nd car and was also hospitalized with serious injuries. It's unclear how many people were in the third car, but no one was taken to the hospital.
Police believe the man was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time, and that he was actively using the inhalant while driving.

Arkansas Man Drives Car into Man Before Hitting Building

A 33-year-old Arkansas man was arrested for DWI-drugs, careless and prohibited driving, and breathing, inhaling, or drinking certain intoxicating compounds.
The man was driving when his pick-up truck crossed the turning lane and continued across ongoing traffic lanes. He hit a curb, striking a light pole. His car then went back across all lanes hitting another light pole. He then continued into a parking lot where he hit a parked SUV. The owner of the SUV said he shoved his two young children out of the way, but that the car hit him before running into a building and newspaper stand.
Police found a cold computer duster can in the console of the car, and a wet baggie on the passenger seat. The man was taken to the hospital where he agreed to a urine and blood test. The man was cited and released on bail.

The woman was found slumped over her steering wheel after she rammed into two parked vehicles, one that had two elderly people sitting inside it, in a parking lot. Maine Man Pleads Guilty to Huffing and Driving

A 36-year-old Maine man pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of inhalants knowing that his license was revoked and having his 14-year-old nephew in the car with him until the teenager jumped out. The man pleaded guilty to a felony charge of operating after habitual offender revocation with a prior conviction and two misdemeanor counts of operating under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child. "The negotiated agreement dismissed two misdemeanor charges of driving to endanger and failing to notify of a motor vehicle accident."
Had the case gone to trial, witnesses would have testified that the man had temporarily blacked our and drove into a ditch and continued into the horse pasture. The Wilton Police Chief would have testified that the man was locked inside the vehicle and that she saw him huffing from the computer duster. The man's nephew was able to jump from the car as it entered the horse pasture.
The Judge deferred sentencing on the felony charge for a year. During that time the man will have to follow an agreement that outlines what he needs to do and he may not use alcohol, illegal drugs, or inhalants. If he abides by the terms the case will be dismissed. If he does not the minimum mandatory sentence is six months in jail and the maximum is five years and a $10,000 fine. The man was also sentence to 364 days in jail, all suspended, and one year probation on each of the misdemeanors. He must also pay a $500 fine and will lose his license for 150 days.

Investigators say the man was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to follow the road to the right and drove through the park. His car hit several trees before coming to a stop. Police say there was evidence found that shows the man had been huffing inhalants prior to the crash. Additional drug paraphernalia was also discovered. A dog in the car was also killed in the crash.
