Illinois Man Arrested Twice in One Weekend for Inhalant Abuse

A 25 year old man was arrested twice in one weekend for abusing inhalants.

On Friday morning, police arrested the man after they noticed him huffing computer dusting spray.  He was charged with unlawful use of intoxicating compounds and released.  Saturday afternoon police found the man laying in the road, again after he had been huffing. He was charged with use, sale or delivery of intoxicating compounds. It was a violation of his bond requirement so he was placed in jail.

Records show the man had previously been arrested in May and July this past year and in November 2009 and August 2008 on similar charges.

A 25 year old man crashed his car into a utility pole after huffing computer duster behind the wheel. He fled the scene but police caught up with him. He was released from jail yesterday and faces misdemeanor counts of possession of toxic substances, hit and run and failure to report an accident by quickest means.”
Frighteningly, the sheriff is quoted as noting the uptick in inhalant abuse incidents in Butte this past summer. He noted that this incident was the fifth case of a car accident as a result of someone huffing behind the wheel.
